When I was a kid in the early 70's my grandfather used to drive in from Brooklyn every Sunday and take me to the card store to buy me baseball cards. We would look at the top and bottom of all the cello packs for the Mets and game's best players and talk baseball together. We talked about the days Mets, and I think I heard every story of the history of the Brooklyn Dodgers. It's one of my favorite childhood memories.
When Hurricane Sandy hit me and my family, we lost everything on the 1st floor of our house, which filled up with 7 feet of water. Included in the losses were my complete Topps baseball card sets from 1969 thru 1978 which were all put together with the help of my grandfather on those Sundays. I also lost these, which I found and bought yesterday at an antique store. They're yellowed and not in the greatest of shape, but I loved seeing them and in a way, getting a childhood memory fully returned. Here are a couple, I thought any baseball fans here might enjoy them.
