As a watch collector myself, I agree with you Jim. I just flipped one of my Panerai's to a 26 year old and actually had two 20-somethings interested in buying it. My son is also a millennial and while it's true he and all his guy friends have a smart watch, they all have at least one regular watch, and some of them quite expensive at that.
This is always an interesting subject. I spent around 20 years collecting vintage rock and roll posters from the 60's and 70's and the entire time I heard warnings that the value of those posters was going to crash. It was always the same refrain...the only people interested in them were said to be old hippies, and young people had no interest in them. To this day, they continue to rise in value with new collectors keeping the interest in them alive and well.
I'm not nearly as experienced as the folks here so I can't even guess as to how this hobby will go in the future but there doesn't seem to be any lack of interest in chips when I see the competition for them on eBay.
