Illegal of the Day Montana - mini

Not really an official IOTD, but was doing a little research on a chip on what I thought was a UFC, and found it interesting.

I've had this chip for 20 years and originally told the record couldn't be found.

Seems that the record has been found and comes back:

J.W. Kibble
Swastika Cigar Store
Roundup, Montana
1934

It's probably no secret that the swastika's original use was in East Asian religions where it stood for many harmonious symbols. No doubt the cigar store wanted to name itself after this peace and harmony.

An obituary for one of the partners, H. I. Case in 1942 had this to say, "In 1922 he entered into partnership with J.W. Kibble and opened what was originally named the Swastika but in recent years was changed to the Kibble & Case cigar store."

Hmm... I wonder what happened in the early 1940s to change their minds?
