Interesting story on these which couldn't previously be shared.
Gene, under instruction from his then boss, Marc Nelson, had these made in a hurry by Gamblers General for an event in just a few days time.
They were not approved by gaming.
The event was in the poker room under gaming regs. An issue arose during the event which had to involve gaming.
Some time later gaming pointed out that these chips were not approved and fined the Palms $50,000!!!!
(Somewhere in Gene's file I actually have a copy of the letter)
Gene wrote a letter of resignation and handed it to George Maloof who tore it up in front of him. (I have a copy of that also)
Shortly after that Marc Nelson's position at the Palms ceased to exist.

These have rarely been offered. I have 5 sets here. I think less than 20 sets exist, gaming confiscated and destroyed the remainder.
