While we know that many times notching was used to cancel chips, but we also know that notching was done to sample chips being submitted to a casino as proofs for approval.
I am not familiar with the history of the Dixie Duck chips, but unless that history indicates that many chips were notched as part of a cancellation process, I would venture to say that your notched version was used as a sample approval chip. Not that this would be a big deal, but there are far fewer notched sample chips than notched cancellation chips. Just sayin. Nice chip!
