I drove that trip 50 times (1989-2013) from So. Cal. to see my brother who lived in Laughlin. (now passed so don't go anymore) If you go south on Hwy. 95 from Searchlight 10 miles your will find a tiny town of CAL-NEV-ARI the town has a small casino casino (no chips now just slots),dirt runway (lighted for small planes to land) the dirt runway was built in the 40's for General Patton to train troops for desert fighting. across the street a small store, and a 80 space RV park. Near the casino are some modular homes, and along the runway some RV's with storage for small planes. When the Boulder Dam was closed to traffic, Hwy 95 was expanded to four lanes two lanes each way. Nancy to owner of the casino, made a lot of money, construction workers filled up her RV lot, ate at the cafe, played in the casino, and used the store. The big bucks came from selling land for the widening the 95, and selling a lot of water for the watering trucks. 10 miles south from CAL-NEV_ARI is Hwy. 163 nice 4 lane's two each way 12 miles to Laughlin.
