Convention Bound Day 6

What a fun time we had yesterday. I know you wonder how in the world we could possible beat the time we had at the cemetery, well we did. If you ever have the opportunity to go to the Louisville Slugger Museum, you must go. What a fun time. There are all kinds of interactive displays, I can throw a 35 MPH pitch and I found out I am not crazy about standing behind home plate. They have an area with actual Hall of Fame players bats and you can pick them up and swing them, Kind of pretend you are a professional ball player. When you pick up those bats you have to wear gloves so you don’t get fingerprints on the bat.

The tour of the factory is really neat. They have a guy that carves the bats by hand, on a lathe, to show you how it was done before machinery took over. They are able to make one bat every thirty minutes. Now with automation they can carve one every thirty seconds. Except for the Major League bats, they take about 45-60 minutes per bat. At the end of the tour you get your own miniature bat to take home. Fred said I look like I swing like a girl!!! Tons of fun.

While in downtown Louisville they have a 30 foot tall gold statue of Michelangelo’s David. According to my app it states “This statue sets the standard for the biggest male package on public view in the U.S. It stands outside the 21c Hotel. It certainly catches your eye.
