*Thursday's Millions* - Convention in 5 Weeks!

5 Weeks to go!

Today's *Thursday's Millions* will show a few more of the photographs from my Million Dollar Display collection.

The link to Photographs Part I (May 10th) and the link to the Photo Postcards (April 19th) can be found here:

Photographs Part I: http://www.thechipboard.com/index.cgi/md/read/id/1520463/sbj/thursday-s-millions-convention-in-6-weeks/

Photo Postcards: http://www.thechipboard.com/index.cgi/md/read/id/1517848/sbj/thursday-s-millions-convention-in-9-weeks/

The first photo today is from the Joe W. Brown days from the mid-1950's when they actually had slot machines right in front of the Million Dollar display. It seems sort of funny to be trying to hit the slot machine's top jackpot of $20.00, when you have 50000 times that amount staring at you right in front of your face grin..

The next photo is an 8" x 10" color photo taken in the 1970's with a pair of older couples standing by the display. The interesting thing about this photo is I have seen hundreds (thousands?) of MDD photos, and this is one of the few ones I have seen that was photographed with the reverse side of the bills..nearly all the photographs I have seen are from the front.

Also, if you look closely, you can see the 'dropping bill' that was discussed last week..

When I was going through my items, I realized I had about a dozen different slides like these..

I found some of the photos on these slides pretty interesting. I tried to hold them up to the light and take photos to show here, but it didn’t really capture the subjects well. Maybe I'll experiment with taking photos of the slides a bit, and if they show well, I will include them in 2 weeks when I will show a bunch of odds and ends from my Million Dollar Display collection.

Back in the first full week (non-flat items) I showed a few angles of the Jim Beam MDD bottle. I found this photo in some random antique store..it appears to be a promotional photo of the bottle..almost like a model’s head shot..

That’s about it for today with the photos, but I also wanted to show an article from the CC & GTCC’s award-winning magazine from 2010. There was a wonderful article by Len Ratzman about the Million Dollar Display. Not sure how well you can read the article here, but I believe the article can be found on the Club website if you are interested in reading it..

*Thursday's Millions* will be taking next week off for vacation, but we will be back on May 31st with a showing of miscellaneous items from my collection that either don’t really fit in any other category, or those that I wanted to show, but forgot in previous weeks.

Thank you to all who have sold and/or traded me items through the years and have shown interest in my collection.

I hope you have found these Posts interesting..
