I just want to add, that if someone can find a solvent that removes paint and doesn't melt the chip, based on testing, I'd also be interested.

I had some painted chips, Paulson, and used Goo Gone, the chips survived, but I really don't think that's the ultimate answer.

I have a friend who collects old model kits, he says fume free Easy Off oven cleaner in a baggie, overnight. I suppose I could sacrifice a chip and see? But that means I'd have to go buy oven cleaner too?
