One of the longest running rumors in our hobby is that there is a large horde of Sahara plaques that may descend on us at any moment. I don't know anything about this alleged horde. Anyway every once in a while there's a sale of framed Sahara plaques. Here's an example in a current auction.

I have a set of all five plaques (including the $1000) framed in the same style. When I bought it on eBay a few years ago the seller was reluctant to say much about how she came to own it. So there seem to be a number of plaque sets...mostly four plaques but at least one (mine) with all five plaques.....all identically framed. Any idea as to who framed them and why? Executive mementos, gift shop items, high roller SWAG, etc.
