There used to be a David's Brass Rail in Sacramento about half a block from the State Capitol. It was the main after-work hangout for journalists and politicians. There was a lot of gambling that went on there, mostly high-stakes liar's dice. It wasn't uncommon to see thousands of dollars change hands over the course of an evening. I don't recall ever seeing chips there, so this chip might be from a different location.
One thing I do recall was seeing Governor Jerry Brown and his girlfriend, Linda Ronstadt, in there by themselves late on a Sunday night in the late 1970s.
