I just got off the phone with Kathie Anderson, Allan's wife. As Allan posted here recently, he had surgery Thursday at Stanford University to remove his right leg and hip because of cancer that had been spreading. The surgery took longer than expected - nine hours - but Kathie said the surgeons were pleased with the result. Allan has been in the hospital for the last four weeks and faces a long transition period, but Kathie said everyone is optimistic that he's going to make a smooth adjustment.
