The Chip Board Archive 25

I watched the Beverly Hills 90210 episode and

there they were! About 25 minutes into the boring hour-long drama. Sorry, I was never a fan of BH90210. But there are close-ups of some CASINO LME chips, $25 denominations. Thanks to the rabid TV show fans who made videos and put them on line.

Movie producers don't use real money in films, of course. Many many years back, when this writer worked as an extra now and then, I was chosen to be in a line of movie theater patrons waiting to buy tickets. The theater was for real, as was the ticket booth, but we were all given foreign coins with which to make our "purchase." The sort of "junk" coins you can still find in buckets at coin shows sometimes marked down to 5 for $1. (The movie was "The Man Who Broke A Thousand Chains." As I recall, it was set some years in the past, when you could pay with just coins to see a show.)

The same thing is usually done with casino chips, I guess - take some real ones for the right size, color and maybe weight, and plaster some fanciful label over them, and you're good to go. Lose 'em all and get into a 20-something angst and put on a temper-tantrum for your snooty girlfriend.
