Re: Question about Jetons
In Response To: Re: Question about Jetons ()

Scot,

The French roulette table was on the casino floor at the Paris Las Vegas for a year. It was only open for play in the evening, usually beginning a little before 7:00. It was a "high roller" table in that minimum bets inside or outside started at $25 and were raised to $50 later in the evening on week nights and $100 on Friday and Saturday nights. The loading of the table was a ritual that was fun to watch. Casino security personnel would bring what looked like a footlocker on wheels that held the jetons and plaques to the table. They would place the racks of jetons and plaques onto the table and the table staff would position and stack them around the outside of the wheel. They had $5,000 and $10,000 plaques that were on the table every night. I've been told they had $25,000 and $50,000 plaques, but I never saw any of them on the table. I came close to cashing out with a $5,000 plaque one night. I had a very good session where I bought in for $500 and after a couple hours, after losing 3 spins in-a-row, I colored up and cashed out for $4,850. The table always had two, and often three, croupiers who would place your bets for you. I was flying to Las Vegas at least once a month while that table was on the floor and it didn't take long before the croupiers and the pit bosses (the table had its own dedicated pit boss every night) greeted me by name when I sat down to play. I really miss that table!
