A. J. Giametta posted earlier today some pictures of a couple of Roulette Wheels he saw at a flea market in Texas.
I thought I would share some pics of Roulette Wheels I have on display at the Birl Museum in Delaware.
Arguably my most beautiful and interesting Roulette Wheel is a 24" traveling Wheel that was once in use at the famous horse racing and gambling resort of Saratoga Springs, NY. I purchased this complete and very interesting Roulette setup about 10 years ago at the "Atlantique" antique show in Atlantic City, NJ. This set includes a beautiful wheel produced by L. Rude Mfg. of Hoboken, NJ Formerly with F. Grote & Co. and probably dates to the early 1900s. In addition to the wheel there is a tri fold wooden layout, a deluxe chip rack and 1000+ inlaid Roulette chips which all came in a very ornate shipping case.(see scans below)
Also shown below is a full size 32" Wheel produced by F. Grote & Co.Maker's 114 E. 14th. St. New York. This wheel is even older than the traveling set as the 24" Wheel was produced by L. Rude who was a former employee of F. Grote & Co.
Finally, I have included pictures of other assorted Wheels and other gambling items that are housed in the Birl Museum.
I hope you enjoy the pictures.
Take care,
