Bill Kenny was a wealthy friend of Al Smith and the Tammany Hall Democrats (whose symbol was a tiger, the “Tammany Tigers”).

Some interesting facts regarding the Tiger Room:

—The room took up two floors and was 300 feet long. It was located at 23rd and 4th Ave (now Park Avenue South) in NYC

—the dining table was made of a single piece of onyx 70 feet long

—At one end of the Room was a stage in which Al Jolson, Will Rogers and Broadway companies such as the Ziegfeld Follies would perform for Bill’s guests

—the fireplace accommodated logs as big as railroad ties.
