Greetings, once again.
Jim Follis here, and I wanted to post another message in regards to my campaign to be elected Vice President of this Club. As stated earlier, I am an almost 20-year veteran of this Club, and from very earlier on, I have volunteered for many Club appointed positions, all of which required the approval of the then-current Board, for which I have appreciated their confidence and support in doing those tasks.
About 2 years ago, I became involved with the Club's Museum of Gaming History, principally in loaning material from my collection to the El Cortez Exhibit. I got a little more involved with the MoGH as the Plaza Exhibit began to take shape, but visiting the facility several times to make measurements for placements of our display cabinets, and to develop some artwork to show our display from the El Cortez, in a Plaza setting. As the project progressed, I became more and more involved in the actual set-up of the display, as well as the relocation of the entire display, to its current location.
Later, when a position on the MoGH Board became available, I was put into that position, as a Board Member and the Exhibits Chairman. As has been posted here today, in that capacity, along with other MoGH Board members and supporters, we have now set-up our newest, and largest to-date, Exhibit at the Nevada State Museum, Springs Preserve, Las Vegas, NV.
So, I support and will continue to support the MoGH’s physical presence at various casinos and full-scale museums, currently in and around Las Vegas (and other locations should one develop). That presence is currently at the El Cortez, the Plaza, the NEON Museum, Mob Museum and even the multiple Exhibits presented at the Club’s annual Convention and Show, for which I am also the Exhibits Chairman. I am a firm believer that Exhibits like these will keep our Club in contact with other "historic associations", as is required by the Club’s Constitution.
As stated previously, I am devoted to the Club! I work hard to support it and would very much like to bring that enthusiasm to the Club’s Board of Directors as its next Vice President. With your vote and those of other members, I pledge to continue my engagement and involvement in Club activities and to work with the Club’s Board to enhance, promote and expand the Club’s membership, internet presence, and public visibility.
I thank you for your time and would very much appreciate your vote of support!
