Jim... You might want to check with UNLV Special Collections/Archives, if you had not, already. The last time I spoke to them regarding the 'Sahara plaques' they did tell me they had color photos... Of what, exactly, I do not know, but it might be a shot and perhaps some additional info can be added to your project (which I just reviewed online).
