All New Ideas need to be explored.
While I definitely appreciate any and all suggestion to benefit the club, I do have some reservations.
In particular we already have numerous fundraisers that are advertised here, on the club board and the magazine that are unfortunately poorly participated in.
Anyone who wants to donate or support the club can already participate in one of the many existing fundraisers.
As an example I have been running the club raffle for many years and we rarely have more than 50 donors. The same can be said about the annual auction.
It seems to be the same people who donate to these two very important fundraisers for the club year after year with very few new donors. Even with constant promotion, it’s hard to get additional membership to support those efforts.
Don’t want to donate items?.... how many are aware of the Amazon Smile program where a percentage of every sale goes to the club. We have advertised this numerous times and I am willing to bet over 1/2 our membership buys items from Amazon, yet VERY few people choose to participate.
How about eBay sales? Did you know that any eBay seller can choose to donate anywhere from 10% of their sales up to 100% to a 501c3? Yes anyone selling on eBay can choose to donate a portion of their sales to the club yet almost no one does it.
I have done this many times over the years and it’s fantastic advertising for the club but the program just isn’t supported by the vast majority of members who sell on eBay.
So, while I do in fact like your idea, I have my doubts as to it’s sucess based on participation in the fundraisers we already have in existence.
Personally I would much rather see those efforts supported than try an additional one.
Just my opinion.
