Should the hobby leaders take a hike?

Buried in another thread about slabbing is the following post:

Fred sez "Your comment was very rude and I find it very inappropriate." Fred is entitled to his opinion. If he liked my last post, he's sure to love this one.

I think my comment was spot-on. To repeat:

Probably the most impressive post I have seen on this board.
Some memorable observations....
"We cannot rely on the younger generation to revive the hobby, they simply are not collectors."
"...many members are dying or reaching the point where they must sell due to age, health, etc."
I keep saying this is a dying hobby - - something needs to give it a boost. Maybe some of the self-proclaimed leaders in the hierarchy should take a hike.

Going to a chippers event is akin to a field trip from the old age home. Mostly stubborn 'ol farts set in their ways. There seems to be little buy/sell "action".

Finding a man under 60 at a chipper event is a rare occurrence.

Most of the nice women who attend are well over 40 (I'm talking age, not breast measurement) who primarily are caretakers for the 'ol farts.

At the annual event last year some dumbass (a good friend of Jughead in the comic books) denies admission to a paying customer (who hates mailing lists) due to a BS rule about providing ID (yeah, it was me). The head knocker at the show was a nice enough 'ol geezer. But when it came to resolving the issue, he was clueless. To make things worse, the dumbass was appointed to serve as the chairman of this year's event!

As I said, maybe some of the hierarchy should take a hike and make room for some "new blood" for the good of the hobby. The Creeper (RIP) was right when he tried to shake-up the club. If A-holes could fly, this place would be an airport! Yeah, most will say that I would also be flying high and that would be a fair comment.

I strongly believe some of the self-proclaimed leaders in the hierarchy should take a hike. I believe the chippers need new progressive leadership open to embracing slabbing and other means of promoting the hobby. If you don't agree, you may be in denial or non compos mentis. But, like Fred, you are entitled to your opinion.

I mean no disrespect to the founding members, but it is time for them to move on IMO. Bring in David Hall and PCGS to see if a program for authenticating, grading and slabbing chips should be developed (maybe so, maybe no). Promote the romantic lore of holding a chip that represents a piece of gaming industry history in your hand (whether raw or slabbed).

This could become a dynamic hobby and may offer a better investment opportunity than chitcoin if a new group of progressive leaders work to promote the fun, history and historical significance of gaming chips.

Someone (not me) needs to shake the tree!
