The Main Entrance Casino, Tahoe

In the early 1930s, Carl F. Tychsen owned the Stateline Market along U.S. Highway 50 (between the Stateline Country Club and Beecher's Nevada Club), and opened Carl's Place Bar & Club in a rear building down the alley next to the Nevada Club.

Around 1938, Carl's Place became the Main Entrance Casino (operated by Charles Silver and George "Frenchy" Perry), with a long canopy leading down the alley to the highway. By 1940, the Stateline Market became the Main Entrance Annex, and the original club was extended all the way down the alley to the highway.

When Carl F. Tychsen died in 1945, the old Stateline Market building was purchased from his estate by Eddie Sahati (who then owned Sahati's Stateline Country Club next door).

The former Main Entrance Casino was remodeled and became the Itahas Lodge (Sahati spelled backwards) in 1946.

In 1950, the Itahas Lodge became the Sahatis Club, then the Stateline Redwood Room around 1954.

In 1957, Bill Harrah bought the property from the Sahati family, and it became Harrah's Stateline Country Club, today known as Harrah's Tahoe.
