The "Clubs de Jeux" ( gambling clubs) in Paris, casinos of a new genre
Law on the creation of gaming clubs in the capital entered into force on 1 January
New in early 2018: the creation of "Clubs de Jeux" in Paris to replace the deceased “Cercles de Jeux”, almost all closed for ten years due to questionable practices. These late Cercles de Jeux (Wagram, Cadet, Concorde, Haussmann, Aviation Club of France, Central, English ...) have disappeared.
From this bygone era, only a good student remains today: the Cercle Clichy-Montmartre
With the entry into force on 1st January 2018 of the law reforming the status of Paris, the capital will be able to host in the coming weeks new types of institutions that will offer poker-type games, but where the most popular activities will be proscribed.
In these gaming clubs, we will not hear the characteristic noise of slot machines, nor that of roulette. There will not be the thrill of blackjack either. These new structures may however offer different kinds of poker, baccarat or mahjong.
Only three groups filed a file at the police headquarters: Raineau, Tranchant and Partouche. The Barrière Group, which in Enghien will retain its exclusivity Île-de-France slot machines, blackjack and roulette, could follow suit in the coming weeks. These small Parisian clubs will not be able to compete with the casino of Enghien, the only existing casino within a radius of 100 kilometers around Paris.
