Update on Screwed on eBay
In Response To: Screwed on eBay ()

I contacted the seller and he replied almost immediately that the chips were "hot glued" and could easily be removed. I am not familiar with "hot glue" so I asked him for instructions and got no response. The seller has now gone dark on me. I googled "hot glue removal" and found that you can easily remove hot glue (from some items) using Isopropyl Alcohol". I even found a Youtube video. The technique is to put the alcohol at the edges of the glue, wait a little while and then simply pull the glue off. Easy enough, except with the chips glued to the board, you cannot easily get to the glue. But I figured out that if I could wedge the chip off the board with a butter knife (which is sturdy and thin) I could then remove the glue with the alcohol. That seems to work well for most of the chips, especially the newer chips. There were a few disasters. The inlays on the Flamingo Hilton and another chip stuck to the glue and pulled off the chip. On most of the hot stamp chips, a significant portion of the hot stamp came off with the glue. And finally, I was not able to wedge off about a third of the chips because they are too stuck to the board and there isn't enough room to get leverage to pry them off without destroying the board. My next attempt will be to destroy the dividers on the board so that I can get the leverage to pry off the chips. When I am done, I will assess the damage and ask for that amount back as a refund from the seller. Do you think that I will get anything?
