I suggest that we be carefull of where we place Davis Dam the city, based on where the Colorado River is located. In a previous post I mentioned that the Paradise Casino, Yuma, Arizona, is physically located on the West bank of the Colorado River.
How can that be you might ask....? Well, up until a certain date, the state borders were determined by the main channel of the Colorado River. After many, many channel changes and the resulting law suits for land ownership, it was decided to not use the River as the boundary, and to instead fix the statelines. After this was done, the river (in the Yuma area) shifted to another channel, which was East of the land that the Paradise Casino is located on. It remains that way to day.
I do not know what date this agreement was made, nor do I know what date the Davis Dam (the dam) was built, nor do I know if the "agreement" applied to Nevada and Arizona, but it is quite possible that in building the dam, the water must be diverted. If the diverted water cahnged the stateline, then maybe there was a casino located in what is now Arizona.
Of course it is quite possible that the map shown in the post is wrong. But then again.....
