...are what is making this bugger so difficult to be detected by antivirus software as near as I can figure. It attaches itself to existing files in a random manor, then sends itself as an attachment. The two attachments that I did see the file name without opening them had the dual extensions of .doc.pif and .DOC.doc
The general nature of this program defies detection due to its ability to attach itself to random files and add another extension. It will continue to do so until the antivirus coders figure out a way to detect/block dual/multiple extension files of every possible combinatiom.
This stuff has already cost me enough sleep as it is. After showing my lead tech a description of the virus on the Norton website (and he was impressed, whoever wrote it knew what they were doing), he offered to completely clean my laptop of this virus for $100. That's a done deal! My baby will be in his hands this weekend!
