Without knowing anything about the workers themselves, the work they do or the financial condition of the casino, I have no way of judging whether the 10 cent per hour raise offer is fair. There are circumstances under which it would be inadequate and others under which it would be fair or even generous. I have no opinion on this particular strike, as I know nothing about it.
Since I couldn't avoid it entirely, I will say this on the union issue: like most human institutions, labor unions in general have good points and bad. Historically, they have done a lot of good things and some bad.
How good any particular union is is largely dependent on the people who run it. Those run by hard-working, honest and fair people are good for their workers (and, generally, for management, too). Those run by crooks, incompetents or the power-hungry are good for no one.
Pretty much the same thoughts apply to management.
