Rich you sure bring back old memories we stopped

at Schaff Bros. in Baker many times in late 50's, 60's and early 70's. As you said no air in cars, we would rent a water cooler to put in the drivers side window, would hang on the glass about 6 inches, and blow some cooler air that reduced the inside temp from 95 to 80, also would hang a burlap bad of water from the hood ornament. The hot air flow would cool the water a little. Inside the fountain store in Baker, we would get a cold drink and it was cool, they had fans, and the walls were concrete three feet thick. Life saver stop. Most people drove at night, but being young and wanting to get to LV quick, we sometimes drove during the day, Baker was often 120 to 125.These were great times to visit LV the mob relied on gaming winnings (of course would skim $) but very cheap rooms, entertainment, food and many comp's. Gas was .23 per gallon. If I was a collector then, would have a very interesting collection today. Rich thanks for old historical memories.
