Darren, isn't that the truth about most of the food choices on the Strip.
Since we stayed at the MGM, we ate there for breakfast several times this trip. My wife doesn't like buffets, and the only real breakfast choice there is the Avenue Cafe. The food quality was what you would find at a hospital cafeteria. The most tasteless egg-type breakfasts for $18+ came with a watered down cup of $5 coffee. MGM has some good places on the high end (Joel Robuchon, Morimoto, Tom Collichios, etc.) but their mid-range food choices are very mediocre, at best, and downright expensive. The only exception I found was the Tap Sports Pub, which was pretty good.
I haven't seen a hotel in all of Las Vegas that has better food options than the South Point, for selection, quality and value..
