Doug you explained the situation with the magazine perfectly. As editor for two issues a year, it is difficult to align competing needs of the club (elections, amendments, board meetings, etc.), printer's requirements and work load which vary production time out of everyone's control, and just the time needed to collect information, articles, ads, perform layout, edit, proof, load up to the printer around the editor's life. Maybe if everyone concerned is at this convention, we can meet to try to align all the requirements we as a club can control, better.
As far as the convention goes the bulk of the events are on the same days every year. Who is our guest speaker at the dinner, who is offering workshops vary.
That said, I believe on our application it asks if you want First Class service. (I am currently on the road heading to the convention, Effington, IL tonight. Day 2 on the road 850 miles down.)
All other magazines are shipped out from Jefferson MO, bulk mail by zip code. Personally I know there is there is up to a 3 week lag where I live between the 2 methods. I know of members that bulk mail takes 6 weeks to arrive. Emilio I replied to your wife about your problem.
I know Robb and I try to make everyone happy, which in reality, we know is impossible. We're only human, as is everyone on the board. We cannot control how long the printer takes or the US Postal Service. As far as my position goes, if someone thinks they can do a better job, I will pass it on to you.
I personally feel Doug has been a terrific leader of the club, managing all the different variables within the organization efficiently.
As a side note, both Robb and I are setting time aside to be at the club table at the convention on Friday morning for a meet & greet and to troll for articles. I hope to see as many members as possible that day.
