Biggest Las Vegas Historical event 6/3/1960

On June 3rd 1960 Kay Franzen and Fred Lamb got married in San Marino, Ca. Had a big wedding and reception at her parents house. (we went to SMHS and a few went to College with us), all grew up as young kids and neighbors together. Married for 57 years today, a good marriage, lots of kids, and fun. This is the funny part, after 2hrs. at reception I wanted to leave for our Las Vegas honeymoon she said what's the hurry, Well I just wanted to get going.( not sure what my motivation Was) I synchronized our watches for the get away car to drive up at end of driveway, we ran down the driveway and they threw hand full's of rice. Got to the Tropicana about 1 AM went to our room, jumped into bed, after 15 mins. Kay said what kind of hotel is this, there is sand in the bed. Turned on the lights to looked at the sheets and found rice head to foot it was still stuck in her hair. Brushed the rice off and enjoyed our honeymoon. I will never know why we didn't shower first before going to bed?

PS: Our wedding party guys and gals, were all from our same High School and some dating , they all went to the best mans house and I'm told partied like rock stars till 2am. A few got married later, and the half that are still alive are very good friends today.
