My long hand....
I was playing a couple years ago at the Silverton and at a full table. There were some big money betters play, one of them a construction worker who was blowing off steam and drinking heavily, imagine that a construction guy drinking (my son is one and learned his lesson the hard way). I am a low ball player, $5 bets on pass line & come bets but always take the odds. The dice were passed to me and I start throwing them. I keep throw hard ways left and right. Mister construction guy was playing these and making good money as he was betting $100 chips. The point was, I believe, a five and to show his appreciation of me making him money he started to place bets on the hard eight for the shooter (me). Every time I hit another hard way he keep upping the bet for the shooter (me). When the shooter's (me) hard eight bet hit $100 everyone at the table was cheering for the hard eight and could care less if a five hit or not. After about throwing for 45 minutes and never rolling a five nor another eight I threw the hard eight and the table exploded with cheers. The hard eight for the shoot (me) was at $150 and you can figure out the payout. Mister construction guy came over and shook my hand, handed me another $100 chip and we were best of buddies the rest of the night.
