OK, I just received a note from the seller. He did take it in and have it tested for metal content and here is what the coin store told him

"Just got metal tested. 65% copper 25% zinc the rest was nickel and iron. They said it is a coin not jewerly because of the composite."

Myself I still think jewelry simply because of the time hole and also that the piece is wider in the middle and tapers towards the edges.
