I was in San Antonio a couple of weeks ago, and saw an ad for a club allegedly offering legal Texas hold 'em. I went there and it was true. It was a very odd operation: you had to become a member to play. There was no rake and amazingly, no tipping allowed. I won a huge hand once, and flipped the dealer a red bird, and he gave it back, saying it wouldn't be legal. Thought I was hearing things. They charged $8 per hour to play there, and you pay even if you bust out because they hold your drivers license when you get into a game. All in all, it was very well run, and enjoyable. I heard other players talking about a club in Austin and another one opening soon in San Antonio. Are there clubs like this in every Texas city? Are they truly legal? How come nobody seems to know about this? Anyone have any chips from any other "social clubs"?
