My Atlantic City Redemption Story

Having purchased a collection containing thousands of dollars of Atlantic City chips, I drove down there to test their redemption policies. At the Tropicana, they were indeed cashing Taj Mahal chips. Even had a special window for it. They took everything, but the rumor that they were cashing Trump Plaza was incorrect. I asked the cashier how often someone comes in with Taj chips, and he said very infrequently, "maybe once a week". I visited every casino, and they took all that I had from that property, regardless of age: Ballys took the old Park Place, Harrahs took the old Marina, and Caesars took those old chipcos from the year of the flood. Some seemed to recognize them immediately, and the transaction was quick. Some others had to take chips in the back somewhere, and look them up. But they always came back, and said it was good. I got a few numbers for the Casino Control Commission, because I still had maybe $2000 worth of chips from the Plaza and other closed casinos, and there has been a rumor in chip collecting circles for decades that every AC chip is cashable no matter how old. After calling a half dozen numbers and being transferred to a half dozen more, I could find no one that had any idea that this policy ever existed. One even suggested that I contact Trump Industries. Everyone seemed eager to help, and knowledgeable. One gentleman told me the only casino that set up an account for cashing chips beyond the redemption period was the Atlantis. Did this policy ever exist at all? Was it discontinued? Was I calling the wrong government entity? Anyone want to buy old AC chips for face value? Inquiring minds want to know. Any help would be appreciated.
