Since you’ve posted two of my New York State harvest stories, I thought I’d tell you of my most recent.
This was two months ago (February, 2017). February is not the greatest time to go to upstate New York but there was a very sad reason for going. For what it’s worth, a couple of weeks after the trip, where I was going got upwards of 30” of heavy wet snow, not the light powdery lake effect snow that many of us are familiar with.
There are three casinos that opened in New York in January and February of 2017: Rivers in Schenectedy, Del Lago in Waterloo, and Tioga Downs in Nichols. Schenectady is right on the way to where I was going so that was no big deal except it’s in the city of Schenectady. The other two are out of the way but, since I was going the day before I had to be where I was going, I had plenty of time. Good news also is that I drive a hybrid so I didn’t particularly care about the excess mileage.
I gathered all the chips I wanted but there are a couple of funny stories.
At one of them, the dealer asked the pit boss who said I couldn’t just buy chips without playing. I explained that I’m a collector and I showed him my CCGTCC membership card. He then let me buy the couple of chips but I asked what the problem was since I/we do this all the time. The explanation was the fear of money laundering! We all had a good laugh at the realization that I wasn’t really laundering the less than $20.00 I put up.
At the other two, the dealers also asked the pit bosses because they didn’t know if they could just sell me chips. Nothing to do with money laundering, it was just that they had not had the request before (remember the casinos had only been open a month or two, if that). The pit bosses said no problem.
I also stopped at Turning Stone to make my annual plea to buy a couple of their poker room drop chips. These had not been used for years and had just been sitting in the vault, but the floor and cage have steadfastly refused to let them out over the years. This time, however, they were using them again so I thought (YEAH!) maybe their policy had changed. Unfortunately that was not the case despite my pleading, begging, groveling!
So, while the reason for the February trip to upstate New York was sad, I did get all the chips I wanted from the new casinos. Next trip I hope to get further west to the several Seneca casinos in search of the handful of chips I’m missing from them.

THIS WAS THE FIRST AND LAST DAY CRUISE HARVESTS NANCY AND I WILL PROBABLY EVER MAKE. WE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GREAT WAY ENJOY A SATURDAY. I THINK IT COST US ABOUT $15 A PIECE TO BOARD THE BOAT. IT WAS FAIRLY WELL FURNISHED. IT HAD ABOUT 300 SLOTS, 4 BLACKJACK TABLES, ONE CRAP TABLE, ONE ROULETTE WHEEL, A COUPLE OF HOUSE GAMES AND A NICE UPPER DECK LOUNGE.
NANCY IMMEDIATELY WENT TO GET HER SLOT MACHINE FIX, AND I ADJOURNED TO THE UPPER DECK WITH MY BOOK. I DID NOT FEEL LIKE TRYING MY HAND AT THEIR BLACK JACK TABLES, THE RULES WERE SKEWED TOO MUCH TO THE HOUSE’S FAVOR.
ABOUT MIDWAY THROUGH THE CRUISE TIME OF FOUR HOURS I STROLLED UP TO THE CASHIER TO ATTEMPT TO BUY SOME CHIPS. ON MY LEFT WAS AN ARMED GUARD, HE SAYS, WHAT DO WANT TO BUY THEM FROM THE CAGE FOR? I SAID I WANT TO TAKE SOME SOUVENIRS HOME WITH ME. HE SAYS THAT WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE AND THE MOUSY LITTLE CASHIER SAYS I CANNOT SELL THEM OUT OF THE CAGE, YOU NEED TO BUY THEM FROM THE TABLES. THE NEXT HARVEST PLAN I TRIED SEEMED TO WORK A LITTLE BETTER, I SAT DOWN AND ENGAGED THE RANKING PIT BOSS IN CONVERSATION. AND IMMEDIATELY ASK HIM ABOUT BUYING A SMALL AMOUNT OF CHIPS FOR SOUVENIRS. I HAD ALSO, COUNSELLED WITH NANCY AND ASKED HER TO DO THE SAME. THIS WAS THE BREAKDOWN (TIMES 2) 10 $1 CHIPS, 2 SNAPPERS AND 1 $5 CHIP. THIS IS A CASE OF I THOUGHT I BOUGHT THE RIGHT AMOUNT, I DID.
BELIEVE ME, THE CRUISE WAS ENJOYABLE, BUT YOU ARE CAPTIVE FOR XX HOURS…REG http://www.themogh.org/cg_chip2.php?id=FLFMTB

THAT BEING SAID; SHOULD YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE ONE OF THESE BEAUTIES THAT IS NOT PRICED, FEEL FREE TO MAKE ME AN HONEST OFFER.…REGGIE

MANY YEARS AGO I STARTED MY POSTING, BY POSTING “A SET OF THE DAY” I THINK I HAD ABOUT 300-400 SETS ALL TOGETHER. THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN BACK THEN. AND WHEN I STARTED DOING “A PAGE A DAY” I INCLUDED BETTER SETS AS A CATEGORY.
BUT NOW; RATHER THAN HAVING MY BETTER SETS CATEGORY, I WILL START HAVING A REGULAR SET OF THE DAY WITH MY OTHER FEATURES WHEN I DISPLAY A “PAGE OF THE DAY”.
I AM REDUCING PRICES ON MOST OF THESE SETS, SOME WILL BE FACE VALUE, SO IF YOU SEE SOMETHING YOU LIKE AND WANT, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE IN SENDING ME AN EMAIL, PUTTING A SOLD SIGN ON THE CB IS NOT THE WAY TO GUARANTEE YOUR PURCHASE OR TRADE. SEE POD FOR P/H RATES. SEND ME AN EMAIL FOR ORDERS OR QUESTIONS…Reggie

Starting 2016, I have listed everything I have (all of my excel inventory +) on the collection library trader/for sale. Of course, many of you did not know that my previous listings were items I had more than one of. Now, everything; even the ones I only have 1 (one) of will be listed. Please know; none of these are from my personal collection. One more important point while searching for chips on my CL site; there are two settings for viewing my chips. One is a simply a long, long list of pictures and descriptions. Two is by Country/City/State/Casino alphabetical. You may request to change this at any time. And when you do I will leave it on that setting for a couple of days, or whatever you request within reason, before I change to help another chipper’s request.
Follow This Collection Library Link To Approximately +/- 4500 Trader Chips >>>: http://www.collectionlibrary.com/Index.asp?EvApp=mls.5117&sPageName=MyTraders
This will cause more work for me, and along with that will be the possibility of more errors, and chances for items to slip through the cracks. So, I apologize in advance for the times I do not clear off a listing after it has been sold. Also, on the other side of coin, there will be times I will find a very nice item that I had forgot to put on the “Collection Library” when I first got it. And now I am listing it just when you started looking for it.
*On the subject of trading, please know: When you spot something on my CL Trader/For Sale list that you really want, I need to get something that I can put into my collection, also; or it will be a cash sale. Because, to take in trade something I will in turn have to sell, (that is already in my collection) requires me to work twice as hard to complete the original transaction.
The total amount of chips listed on this site as traders and for sale are approximately 4500. This of course will fluctuate up and down, however this number should afford most collectors looking for a piece to put in their collection at least an opportunity to see a few chips not often offered.
Thanks for taking your time to read over this post, Reggie
