Fake Ivory gambling chips depicting famous-named establishments and riverboats sold in New Orleans and other tourist cities by street vendors just after WWII... I know this for a fact and so do others... it's archived here.
What many chip collectors refuse to believe is that most of the gambling "chips" used in saloons in the American old west were nothing more than metal counters... another collectible relating to gambling... and most resembled coinage at that time. The American chip collector never accepted this fact even though there are tons of different size, shape and imaged pieces out there.
