At the time that was what they were used for. I've learned since then that the color's and uses vary as different promotions come up. They no longer run the Canadian dollar program and lately at GG the black was used for different conventions. So at CES if you came down there with your badge and ID you could get a match play chip and i have seen it done for many other conventions (Furniture week, World of Concrete, etc.).
