Hello Fred, my recommendations would be the following:

San Manuel (Indian) approx. 45 minutes away from Pasadena
Pechanga Casino (Indian) about an hour away
There are four Indian Casinos, Pala, Pauma, Harrah's and Valley View just off off of Highway 76 about an hour and half from you.
All of these casinos have great food, and are full line casinos. All other casinos in the Los Angeles are card clubs only.
