Re: blackjack called snapper
In Response To: blackjack called snapper ()

Being an avid snapper collector I was curious the origin of such a term. From all of my readings found on google regarding the subject, my conclusion is that it has become a slang term for Blackjack, and the 2.50 chips. As per Rich's point, the origin seems to come from being dealt a face down two card 21. In the old days apparently the first two cards were dealt face down, unlike today. When someone hit 21 they snapped the cards over displaying their winning hand. Hence the snap. At some point I presume they came up with a 2.50 chip. Still some unanswered questions, when (year) they were originally put in play? Why are they almost always pink in color? How was a 3/2 blackjack paid out on a five dollar bet before snappers? That's my 2.50 cents. LOL Doug
