Musing about the vagaries of chip prices, especially at auction.
A recently closed auction for a $20 Stardust chip went for $60 ... a nice price!
Spinetti's was the seller, and they get a lot of looks on eBay, which may have helped price. Looking at the bid history, the top 2 bidders were each at $60, but if you take them out of the picture, the auction would have settled at around $30 ... so a bit of an anomaly.
What's interesting also, is that the Chip Chat recent sale event in CA had at least 4-5 of these chips marked for outright sale at $22 plus sales tax. I thought that was a nice price, though I didn't purchase any, as I already had a handful of them. One of my favorite chips, and always popular ... but the Spinetti sale shows anything can happen!
