CALIFORNIA DREAMING, REDONDO BEACH CASINOS

WHEN I FIRST MOVED OUT WEST I LANDED IN REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA. I COULD WALK TO KING HARBOR AND THE PIER WITH GREAT VIEWS OF THE PACIFIC AND COASTLINE. I WAS FASINATED BY THE OLD RAILROAD TRACKS LONG REMOVED AND NOW A JOGGING TRAIL THAT RUNS FROM MANHATTAN BEACH, HERMOSA BEACH AND ENED AT THE PIER'S END IN REDONDO BEACH AT THE WHARF. AFTER TALKING TO SOME ELDERLY RETIRED POLICEMAN, I LEARNED THAT REDONDO BEACH WAS A BIG HUB FOR ILLEGAL GAMBLING AND A BOARDING DOCK FOR THE GAMBLING SHIPS OFF SHORE IN THE BAY. REDONDO BEACH IS A SPANISH WORD ... MEANING (round beach) ... THE SHORELINE CURVES. ANYWAY ONE DAY IN AN ANTIQUE STORE ON PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY I FOUND A TRAVELING SUITCASE USED FOR ILLEGAL GAMES. INSIDE WERE ABOUT 1000 LARGE CROWN CHIPS ... A COUPLE OF NEAT OLD PAINTED LAYOUTS AND A CHUCK A LUCK DICE CAGE. I WAS TOLD IT WAS USED IN THE BACK OF LOCAL PUBS TO GAMBLE AND GO! IF YOU EVER GET TO SOCAL ... GO SEE THE PIER AND KING HARBOR! ENJOY THE PICTURES ... YOUR COMMENTS ARE MOST WELCOMED .... THANKS RICH BURGEL
