If you look closely you can see where someone protected the lunette with a film of lacquer...As with any clear lacquer, it can become milky during application or years later as it breaks down... but mostly during application when moisture is present. Something I wouldn't do but seemingly totaly acceptable with some collectors.
I've illistrated plaques that had the finish peeled away (a form of cancellation in France) and a new laminated material bonded onto the surface un-noticed by some collectors who have purchased such material thinking the piece was in its original state of preservation.
