According to this website, the address was once the State Theatre, owned by Paramount Pictures. Became a night club around 1967. Today it is The Merlot, disappointing newlyweds near and far (if the Yelp comment is to be believed).

My guess is that RC chips were made for the night club venture but may not have been used, or if used, not for very long; or else the cardroom would be better-known. Yes, we Californians are Quirky To The Max.
