When we took the train LA to Raton New Mexico than bus to Colorado Springs, Co. The train stopped in LV to change crews told everyone ok to get off for a few minutes, but do not leave the platform. I knew the stop was at least 5 mins., so I ran into the Union Plaza casino went to the food bar purchased two shrimp cocktails, in plastic cocktails glasses w/ crackers and ran back to train just in time. My wife was having a heart attack, many passengers, ask where did you get those, told them how, but the conductor was upset with me. This was about 35-40 years ago. Fun living on the edge. The LA to LV trips were fun a party train, not driving 6 hrs. train was about 6-7 hrs. but the way to go. Rich thanks for bringing back great memories.
