The El Capitan has long been one of my favorite places. When I was in high school - a very long time ago - I lived in Lee Vining and the adults all went to the El Capitan to gamble. Then as an adult I saw the ads in the LA Times for the nearly free junkets - they also flew out of Long Beach where I lived. But with a full time job and going to Long Beach State and with a family even free wasn't cheap enough to fit into my budget. We always stop in on our trip to or from Las Vegas. It has gone a bit down hill over the past few years - glad to here the motel is being updated.
