Years ago I hit a royal at Joe's Tavern for $1843. Joe had to call the route
operator for the payoff but he was in Gabbs so Joe said he would see if he
had enough to pay me. He did-two bills and the rest in twenties. One time
I asked Joe if he had any old chips. He said if I bought him a drink he'd look.
He came up with an old TK five. Turned out he had a whole office full. Old Joe
passed away sometime this past year. What a guy. Once, after years of trying
I was able to buy a $1 Bugler chip out of the cage at the El Cap for a dollar.
I guess it was my lucky day.
