Here's an article that tells more about Guy McAfee regarding the Frontier Club:
Excerpted from “Your Host In Las Vegas- September 1950
Genial Guy McAfee might very aptly be named Mr. Golden Nugget, or even Mr. Las Vegas, as he is so intimately a part of both. He has been associated with many local people in a variety of enterprises, and he personally conceived and supervised the building of the famous Golden Nugget. Guy came to Las Vegas originally in 1938 to build a hotel, but his plans failed to materialize at that time. However, he saw the definite business future of Las Vegas, and returned here later to open the old “91 Club” on the then almost barren "strip.” He sold this club in 1940, along with the surrounding property to the late R. E. Griffith, who built the Hotel Last Frontier around this original club.
At the same time Guy opened the Frontier Club which still operates on Fremont Street, and the Slot Machine & Arcade at First and Fremont.
It was his dream to build an authentic Old West Gambling Hall, and it was from these dreams that the Golden Nugget was born on August 29th, 1946. He had various other interests during this time also, and is still a partner in the Hotel Thunderbird.
He's Listed with the Frontier Club in the 1944 Business Directory:
