I am starting to plan next year's vacation (even though this year's is still a few weeks away ) and we are thinking about driving from Los Angeles to San Francisco along the Pacific Coast Highway, before then heading East to Las Vegas.

So a couple of questions - what is a good mid-point location to stop at overnight between LA and San Francisco, and what casinos (if any) would I find along the way where I could hopefully pick up a players card?
