My 2 chips worth of thoughts regarding many of the casino chip "bargains" on ebay .... are often purchases by dealers for their inventory to offer at resale prices sometimes at a later date. Many chips that are sold by dealers at conventions and other chip shows at higher prices, were purchased on ebay. Once sold; dealers need to replenish their inventory and what better place to do that but on ebay. So in short, ebay is not the final judge as to value. There is a retail price when purchasing from a dealer (much like at a used car lot) and the sold price finally agreed upon. Ebay is often a dumping ground for unwanted chips that some sellers are looking to get rid of at any price so yes, there are bargains to be found there ... not only regarding chips, but other products as well. Estimated catalog values are often meaningless by these sellers... many of whom may not own a catalog. Then there are buyers who will not pay more than 40-50% of catalog for any chip. Sometimes they get lucky.
