So yesterday morning I got up at 3:45 AM to go to the Highway 11 yard sale that runs from Meridian, MS to Bristol, VA. I was doing the leg from west of Knoxville to Bristol or however far I got in a day. The road splits east of Knoxville so I would have a return route the next day on the way home. I got started before 8 am local time (I lost an hour on the way with the time change) and found one sale. Then from there to Morristown, TN (several hours of driving) I didn't find a single sale. Unreal! I finally gave up and decided to go back to my starting point and head in the other direction where I knew there were sales (It was also on the way home in case I found nothing I would just continue on home). It was already 1 pm so I didn't find anything worth buying - I guess all of the good stuff was gone. I figured I would work my way back to Chatanooga and then stay overnite. Of course I had no hotel reservation. I remembered that I had a free night at the new Harrahs Valley River casino which is about an hour away from Chatanooga. OK so I get another night in the casino (I just got back from Tunica) and then could start back south in the morning. So I call Harrahs and they tell me that they do not have any more complimentary rooms left for that night. HUH??? You mean you have rooms available but the letter you sent me telling me I had a free room is no good? YUP! So that means instead of me going there and gambling and buying meals you would rather I not show up at all??? YUP! No wonder Harrahs is headed for bankruptcy. I was so upset and it was already 2:30 in the afternoon and I wasn't finding anything anyway that I just decided to head home. So after 13 hours of driving, a tank and a half of gas I got absolutely nothing. Talk about having a wasted trip - but the fun is in the hunt! Gonna had to make up for this tomorrow
